Department of Translational and Computational Infection Research
The Department of Translational and Computational Infection Research brings together an interdisciplinary team of virology, bioinformatics, and clinical experts to investigate the infection dynamics and evolution of RNA viruses such as hepatitis E, using state-of-the-art sequencing and transcriptomics approaches combined with clinical data to develop tailored analytical tools and identify functional key points in molecular interactions that drive disease development and open avenues for therapeutic strategies.
The Institute of Pathology at the BG UK Bergmannsheil Bochum is an important partner for medical training and diagnostics. It plays a key role in the investigation of the causes of diseases and supports clinical research and patient care.
The Medical Proteome Center is a leading institute for proteome and protein analysis. Using state-of-the-art technologies such as mass spectrometry, protein biochips and innovative bioinformatics, we address questions from clinical medicine and the basic sciences and create new perspectives for precision medicine.
Institute for Prevention and Occupational Medicine of the DGUV
The Institute for Prevention and Occupational Medicine (IPA) of the German Social Accident Insurance (DGUV) is a pioneer in occupational health research. It forms the interface between scientific researc
The Institute for Diversity Medicine at Ruhr University Bochum is the first of its kind in Germany. It is committed to advancing research on individual differences—such as ethnicity, gender, social determinants, and biological factors—and their influence on healthcare. The institute’s mission is to foster patient-centered, equitable medicine that truly reflects the diversity of society.
Through interdisciplinary research, pioneering educational initiatives, and strategic collaborations with clinical partners, the institute aims to drive transformative progress toward more inclusive and just healthcare.
Center for Medical Psychology and Translational Neuroscience
Our interdisciplinary research at the interface of psychology and medicine investigates biopsychosocial mechanisms and risk factors in common conditions such as chronic pain, anxiety disorders, and depression, with the aim of advancing the understanding of disease processes and developing innovative treatment approaches.
