e-Exams at the Faculty of Medicine
The Faculty of Medicine also conducts exams in digital format. For this purpose, the MABF 01/556 computer lab has been equipped with 172 computer workstations and can be supplemented by additional mobile IT workstations. Detailed exam schedules, including group allocations, times and locations, are currently available for each exam on the notice board. Pre-Clinical Phase
Certificates of Achievement in the Pre-Clinical Phase
Over the course of the pre-clinical phase, from the first to the fourth semester, students must obtain a total of 17 ungraded certificates of achievement as evidence of regular and successful participation in teaching. They must also complete one graded pre-clinical elective course.

Registration for Internal University Exams
Participation in the first attempt at internal university exams during the pre-clinical phase is compulsory. Registration takes place automatically based on your enrolment in the relevant courses. Please register for resits online via Your exams. Detailed instructions on how to register for exams online are also available on the notice board.
Results of Internal University Exams
The overall results of internal university exams are available online in the Examination overview. Your individual results for exams you have already taken can be viewed under Your exams.
Resits and Repeat Exams
The information sheet on resits, repeat exams and emergency resits required to meet the eligibility requirements for M1 on time can be found under Official Documents, Forms and Information Sheets. Issuing Certificates of Achievement
Applications for the First Section of the Medical Examination (M1 or ‘Physikum’) must be submitted to the State Examination Office of North Rhine-Westphalia in Düsseldorf (LPA NRW). Please observe the relevant notices and deadlines issued by LPA NRW.
You will receive a consolidated certificate confirming the complete and successful completion of all courses and exams in the pre-clinical phase. If you are still completing courses or exams during the current semester, this certificate must be submitted by the LPA NRW deadline for outstanding documents as part of your M1 application. Please refer to the notices on the notice board.
Clinical Phase

Over the course of the clinical phase, from the fifth to the tenth semester, students must obtain a total of 41 graded internal university certificates of achievement in 22 subjects, 14 interdisciplinary subject areas and five block placements.

Issuing Certificates of Achievement for the Clinical Phase
The 41 certificates of achievement in the clinical phase are a prerequisite for registration for the Second Section of the Medical Examination (M2) with the State Examination Office of North Rhine-Westphalia in Düsseldorf (LPA NRW).
Based on your registrations for courses and exams in the ninth and tenth semesters and your registration for M2 with LPA NRW, confirmation of the complete and successful completion of all courses and exams in the clinical phase is compiled. These academic records are transmitted electronically to LPA NRW once you have registered. A consolidated paper certificate of these academic records is produced and issued only upon request.
